Kamia Brown is a lifelong Central Floridian, dedicated public servant, healthcare advocate, and proud mother running for Orange County Commissioner, District 2.
Born and raised in Orlando, Kamia has deep roots in the community she serves. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Florida A&M University and built her career around public service, advocacy, and strengthening local communities.
Kamia began her career as a legislative assistant before being elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2016, representing Orange County’s District 45—including Pine Hills, Apopka, and Ocoee. She served until 2022, earning a reputation as a hardworking, accessible leader who delivers results.
During her time in office, Kamia fought for affordable healthcare, workforce development, economic growth, and efficient government. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she organized food distributions and hosted virtual town halls to ensure families had access to critical resources when they needed them most.
As a single mother to her son Kason, Kamia understands the real challenges families face. Her lived experience fuels her commitment to policies that support working parents, protect children, and strengthen neighborhoods.
Today, Kamia continues her work in healthcare advocacy and community development. With proven leadership, deep local knowledge, and a neighbor-first approach, she is ready to serve Orange County District 2 and build a stronger, more inclusive future for every family.
